The cost of utilities are on the rise, just as about everything else is in this newest economic slump.  We are seeking ways to save every penny we possibly can, and any way we can manage to do that is a penny earned and able to be spent where it needs to be, or possibly where we WANT it to be.  At your home or office we can do a few things that may become a saving grace if you are trying to cut down overall cost and expenditures.

First off, you should go to each and every one of your air vents in your house and make sure nothing is on top of them, at all.  Remove drapes, stray trash, toys, or anything obscuring it.  It will be easier to heat your home and cheaper if  there is a more straight airflow happening.

You cold also change up what you are using for lighting.  Take out and remove your old light bulbs and replace them with those new energy saver ones.  It may cost more to initially start this change, but it is guaranteed to save you not only on cost for it and lasting much longer, but reduce the power you are using and draining, thereby making your bill much less monthly.

Unplug your cell phone and any other devices to charge your other electronic products.  You may not think they use any power when not plugged into your components, but they do drain some amount.  Unplugging these from the wall when not in use will save us a noticeable amount just because most of us have quite a few things still in our outlets on a daily basis.

These three things, which are so basic will save you quite a nice sum of money both at your home and office.  Energy efficiency and unobstructed heating paths mixed with some sensible removal of unused chargers will go a long way.
